Biographical/Background information:

Hermia Williams is a native of Jacksonville Fl. She has been dancing for 26 years. She is a graduate from Jacksonville University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance and was honored with the Dean’s award for excellence in dance 2008 and Fine arts honors Society award. Hermia is a co-artistic director along with co-artistic director Kavin Grant, for Ka’Mia contemporary dance theater formed in 2008. She has studied dance under various teachers and professors at Baggs Studio, Attitudes Performing Arts, Florida Ballet, One-Way a gospel Dance Theater, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, Florida Community College of Jacksonville, Philadelphia of the Arts, University of Florida, and Jacksonville University.

The summer of 1998 was her first dance job at Walt Disney World Epcot, dancing and as characters Chip-N-Dale. Hermia has traveled extensively dancing to places in Florida, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York, Maryland, Bermuda, just to name a few. Her choreography and teachings has been set on dancers at DA, FCCJ, Lavilla School of the Arts, Episcopal High School, The Potters House Christian Fellowship, University of Florida, Arts4Jax, CAP Kids, Pageants,Cheerleaders, and many more. She has also performed in several musicals and plays such as “The Wiz”, “Troubles Don’t Last Always”, “For Colored Girls”, “The Robber Bride and Groom”, “The Prophecy”, just to name a few.

She was the Choreographer for the NFL Super Bowl XXXIX tribute to black history production “The Journey” held at the Florida Theater. During the Super Bowl XXXIX in Jacksonville, FL she was selected winner of the Super Bowl Gospel Competition. Hermia has performed as a back-up dancer to Singer/rapper Shay for the Bow Wow tour concert. Hermia’s choreography has also been seen on the stage of the Apollo Theater. She choreographed a Motown hits show in New York at the Apollo and shared the stage with Bermudians and American Idol finalist, George Huff. Hermia has had the privilege to stage choreograph for “The Duval Ditty” by Artist Angel/Angelfire (Angel McLaughlin). She is currently a Freelance choreographer for (productions, pageants,artists, and many more)/ performer/ instructor/ dance minister/ and give private lessons, Community Dance Ministry mentor (with workshops, ministry building, and empowerment) and Dance Ministry Leader at Bethel Baptist Institutional Church. Hermia is very passionate about the gift of Dance.
